Fees
- Free initial consultation (phone, email or local in-person meeting).
- Fix fee patent prosecution - Fee varies with the complexity of the case. We will provide a written statement of fee before taking the representation.
- Actual USPTO filing fee extra (Currently - Filing fee for a utility patent application with 3 independent claim and total 20 claims for small company/individual inventor is $500 ($425 if filed electronically) + $40 assignment fee, if any). FY 2006 USPTO Fee Schedule
- PCT filing fee, if any, extra.
- Drawing Fee (for final or complex mechanical drawings) extra (service provided by third party patent drawing firms). Simple initial drawnings are done in-house.
- Search fee (if search is desired before filing) extra (service provided by third party patent search firms).
- Hourly rates - $200/hr for patent prosecution related tasks. $250/hr for litigation support.
- Fees Schedule ( typical patent application):
- Basic Mechanical Utility Patents: $4,000
- Basic Electro-Mechanical Utility Patents : $4,000
- Basic Business Method Utility Patents : $6,000
- Basic Electrical Utility Patent : $4,000
- Basic Computer/Semiconductor/Software Utility Patent : $6,000
- Provisional Patent Applications : $1,500
- Design Patent Applications : $1,500
- Office Action Response : Generally requires research, 1-2 short meetings with inventors and a conference with the examiner. This would usually be in the range of $800-$2000, billable at $200/hr and an estimate provided before starting.
